In late 2021, the Center for Strategic and International Studies hosted its first-ever Congressional Bootcamp.

Since then CSIS has been continuously developing new bootcamp courses on the most pressing foreign policy, defense, and economic issues facing the United States.

Drawing on insights from leading experts in and around CSIS, these courses bring together a diverse cohort of full-time Congressional staff members to educate Congress about the national security challenges they will encounter.

About CSIS

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a bipartisan, nonprofit policy research organization dedicated to advancing practical ideas to address the world’s greatest challenges. Thomas J. Pritzker was named chairman of the CSIS Board of Trustees in 2015, succeeding former U.S. Senator Sam Nunn. Founded in 1962, CSIS is led by John J. Hamre, who has served as president and chief executive officer since 2000. CSIS’s purpose is to define the future of national security. We are guided by a distinct set of values—non-partisanship, independent thought, innovative thinking, cross-disciplinary scholarship, integrity and professionalism, and talent development. CSIS’s values work in concert toward the goal of making real-world impact.

As a bipartisan think tank, CSIS strives to provide a platform for leaders in Congress to engage with the broader policy community on issues affecting U.S. national security and foreign affairs.

CSIS Congressional and Government Affairs

For more than 50 years, CSIS has prioritized outreach to Members of Congress and their staff to provide in-depth, strategic analysis and guidance from the world’s leading experts in defense and security policy, global challenges, and regional studies.

Because of CSIS’s focus on grounded, actionable, and bipartisan policy solutions, CSIS is uniquely positioned to help Congress address the national security, development, and foreign policy challenges facing the United States.

Through speaking events, topical briefing series, participation in policy conferences, and membership on commissions and task forces, CSIS helps leaders in Congress effectively engage the broader policy community.
